Valencia

Valencia, Spanish region with provincial and city of the same name on the Mediterranean coast. The region of Valencia has an area of 23.255 km2 and has 4.692.449 indb. (2005). The autonomous region includes the provinces of Castellón de la Plana to the North, Alicante in the South and Valencia 10.563 km² and 2.402.582 indb. (2005). Along the Mediterranean coast lies a belt of flat arable land, There is limited in the West by a mountainous hinterland. The majority of the larch is irrigated. Production of citrus fruits, rice, vegetables, grapes and olives, but it is especially Orange production, who have made Valencia known. Tourism is widespread along the Mediterranean coast, especially in the southern parts and around the area known as the Costa Blanca with Benidorm as the Center. Electronics, food processing and heavy industry are located in and around the big cities.
